I just got back from the (far) North East and am pleased to report that I've signed an agreement with a client and he gave me a cheque! That was a little under 24 hours after my first coaching session with Eric - not sure if that represents a record?  (-:
 
I've been a Franchisee of a Business Coaching Franchise now for a few months and had rapidly become disenchanted due partly to a complete absence of promised leads (which either means they aren't bothered or their system doesn't work!) as well as a most unconstructive attitude on their part.

So I turned to Eric Dombach for help. After my first coaching session with Eric, I completely changed my planned approach to a Complimentary Coaching Session that I already had booked. I could immediately see a huge difference in approach between Eric and the Franchise and so, despite the limited time available, I decided to change my pitch and so I stayed up half the evening getting my material ready. Marriage Revived Using Vision Book Coaching Exercise

Just before Christmas 2010 I took part in a webinar held by Eric Dombach, as did some of my clients. During this webinar I was reminded of the Vision Book, its format and its purpose. I downloaded the sample vision book and set myself a goal of completing this after the break. My wife and I had a Christmas that worse than we could imagine. The stress of all this laid heavy on us both, particularly my wife. The eruption of this stress resulted in my wife walking out of the family home, seeing no way out of the hole she perceived we were in. The home, our relationship, and family rifts were just overwhelming her and she could see no enjoyment and happiness in her life at that point or in the future. I must admit I also questioned the life pathway we were journeying.

I decided to turn to the Vision Book, my gratitude and my faith. I started working one evening on OUR Vision Book. Once completed I invited my wife to sit down and go through it. Reluctantly, but thankfully, she agreed. The words and more importantly the visuals of our vision, what we had, what potential we had in front of us, the actions we would take - all of this together, was incredible. We spent six hours chatting about the book. Our purpose, our life, our gratitude and our faith in our relationship was clearly illustrated and reinforced by the Vision Book. The Vision Book re-inspired our relationship and set forward a clarity that had been missing for many years. Coach Acquires 5 New Business Coaching Clients Within 90 Days

I have acquired my 5th client within 3 months! The call center had set up a CCS but the partners delayed the meeting twice and were not in the office when I arrived for the meeting. After 25 minutes they came and within an hour they signed for $1,750 per month.  I left with a check for $3,500 including the strategic plan and the first month of coaching. I am excited to help these partners as they seek to prepare their profitable chemical packaging operation for a planned sale in 2-3 years to a strategic partner who has requested they document their operational processes and establish and train an administrative and finance staff to assure a seamless transition. The CCS presentation was a winner! When I quoted the program investment, they expressed surprise that the fee is not higher (lesson learned for next time!)

Coach Acquires 1st Two Business Coaching Clients Within First 90 Days

I have acquired my first and second client within 1 week during October.  My first client is a member of a BNI group that I joined and is a young couple with a HVAC business.  They started their business from scratch 8 years ago and now want to grow the business, better utilize employees and find more time for the owner to perform sales and marketing activities. I signed them on for $450 per month.
 
 A week later, I met with two brothers, CEO and President of a global software development company with a development organization of over 250 employees located in India.  These very technical minded brothers have developed an excellent niche set of software tools and want to grow their business.  The President learned about my company and immediately called to review his business and asked me to help them grow.  After 8 hours in a complimentary coaching session, the two brothers told me they had never spent that much time talking about the 'business' of their business.  They told me they wanted my leadership and business tools to help them develop the internal processes to enable profitable growth.  I signed them on for $3500: $1750 per month, plus $1750 for the strategic planning process. Big news! I just closed a new client for $1,750 per month and received a check for $3,500 which pays for the first month of coaching and the Strategic Planning process. They’re a bus company wanting to grow and gain market share in this economy. I got the lead back in April from my telemarketing vendor. 


Eric - thank you very much for spending the day with me. It was an awesome learning experience for me! As I think back on the day, here are the key lessons learned: when you discover a problem area, you need to go into specific questions about the application of the relevant Silver Bullets so the prospect can "experience coaching" with you. If the prospect has not talked for a while or you sense potential concerns or questions, check-in with them. Do this every 30 to 60 seconds as needed. Make sure they are engaged! Make sure there are not any unanswered questions prior to proposing coaching. 


Eric, having you there to personally watch and participate in a live Complementary Coaching Session and give detailed feedback was invaluable. We all learn from feedback. While classroom is great to get you going, live is perfect to help perfect areas that you may not even know you need help with. Personal Record Broken for Highest Paying Business Coaching Engagement At $3,100 Per Month!

I just landed a new client: a landscaper with revenues of $3.5 million and 25 employees. The lead came from the call center. Their problem is lack of revenue. During the 20 years they’ve been in business, the economy was generally terrific here in Metro-Denver and they relied on referrals to keep them going. Through obvious neglect of marketing to fill their pipeline, they’re now unable to pay the bills. Their once lofty position in the market as the place to get high end and high quality landscape designs has been diluted because of increased competition. I signed them up for $1,250 per month and we’ll be working on a USP/Guarantee, Tactical Marketing Plan, and Lean Manufacturing System. Eric, I want to share with you that by role playing with my wife I was able to execute the Complimentary Coaching System process you teach including “Personality Style Adaption, Pact Removal, Objection Handling, Positioning my Value” and I used lots of emotional questions seal the deal. I also suggested that one of the 2 partners reach into their own pocket to fund the coaching when they suggested that the company had no money, which I watched you do in a role play during boot camp. More good news! I just landed a roofing company as a client. This lead was also provided by the call center. I converted it into a Complementary Coaching Session and then into a paying client just like your system teaches us to do it. Total annual revenue is about $6.5 million. We’ll be working on a Cash Gap Plan and an Organizational Plan. He brought his general manager/controller to the CCS and the guy turned out to be a CPA with an MBA and a law degree from Penn! Of course he initially tried to intimidate me with his degrees and the fact that he worked as a trial lawyer for the IRS. However, after a few ego strokes and some objection handling techniques he became my biggest ally. Against my better judgment, I went away from the CCS with a "verbal" agreement and no check but they called the next day as promised with a completely unexpected question. The verbal agreement we made was for a coaching at $1,500 per month for 1 hour of coaching per week. But they wanted to know how much 3 hours of my time per week would cost! I told them that 3 hours of my time per week would cost $3,100 per month and they agreed. I had my first coaching session today and collected the first $3,100. In hindsight, I should have asked for more but I guess I was stunned by their request to INCREASE my fee!

First Business Coaching Client Signed at $1,500 Per Month In Just 3 Weeks!

I just signed my first client for $1,500 per month! It’s a non-profit beer company. I initially set up a meeting with the owner, a friend of mine, with the intention of getting some good leads and connections as she is extremely well connected with business owners. As she continued to ask questions about the coaching process she stopped and said, "As I’m thinking about how to help you in your new business it’s clear to me that the best way is for me to become your first client so I can tell everyone how great you are." How unexpected, but thoroughly thrilling! I couldn't have asked for a better client as she is looking to expand the distribution of her beer into the mid-west and add another product line. So, we’re definitely going to have some fun.  And to make this even more rewarding all of the profits go to charities that help the working poor, children and homeless.

Business Coaching Client Signs For $2,250 Per Month After Saying "No!"

I signed a new client last week! So, that’s $2,250 for the first month of coaching and an additional $2,250 for strategic plan. The client is a $5 million market research firm and the owner is a former colleague and he’s putting together four other firms for a merger. We’ll start with the strategic plan for the overall organization and quickly move toward a team day with the four new principals to provide a basis for managing the integration. I also plan to do DISC/PIAV and Team Building System with the total group, a Tactical Marketing Plan, and Employee Acquisition Plan. The client originally gave me a “No” based upon his money situation but I asked him to think about what he had at risk if the integration didn’t go well and how difficult it might be to manage four formerly independent owners were the difference in making this one work out. He decided that coaching will help him through this process. Thanks again for your help in dealing with this one, Eric. It’s Nice to know that persistence really does pay off. It helps to make those repetitive phone calls.

The client wants to rework and expand one of her businesses and potentially develop it into a franchise opportunity. 2 Business Coaching Clients Signed In Just 1 Week!

I recently signed my first three clients all within the last week.  All three clients were obtained through networking within my BNI group!

The first is an audio-video production and entertainment company with a goal of growing revenues and profits so that he can quit his second job (second shift) to build a business to support his family. I signed this one for $750 per month plus $750 for the Strategic Plan for a total of $1,500.

The second is a trophy and engraving business with a goal of increasing revenue and profitability and reducing errors and waste in the manufacturing process to build a business he can pass on to his son. I signed them for $500 per month plus $500 for the Strategic Plan for a total of $1,000.

In addition to all the scripting which helps my sales presentation, the coaching calls with you help a lot. If I didn’t have those, I’d be kind of alone with no chance to talk about all the negative or positive things and try to fix them. I think it’s a good model to achieve success!

New Business Coaching Client Signed By Working Collaborating With Existing Consultant

I signed up a new client last Friday for a coaching program and strategic plan. He wrote me a check for $4,500 when he signed the agreement. The client was a referral from one of my networking contacts. Six weeks ago, I held a call with him and at the end of the call he told me he didn't need a coach because he was working with a marketing consultant and that's all he needs. So, no Complimentary Coaching Session! As it turns out, the marketing consultant is one of my networking contacts so I called him and discussed the client’s situation and we agreed that there was room for both of us. The marketing consultant recommended me to the client and the rest is history. I got two lessons out of this: (1) never let a "no" discourage you. In this case following up with another consultant turned the consultant into a strategic ally. (2) Listen to the client and be flexible in meeting his needs including his time and financial needs.

Two New Business Coaching Clients Landed

Eric, I just walked away with a coaching gig with an electronic component distributor! This is the guy that refused to return my CCS paperwork. I tried to persuade him to send me just enough to give me an appreciation of what's going on in his organization but I got nothing. So I ventured to the meeting knowing very little about his challenges. The tour of his facility took all of 10 minutes. We spent the next 1.5 hours going through his history and issues. In the end I agreed to do the Coaching Program with him for €1,625 per month!

Since our last coaching session, I signed on another client, a property management partnership. This is a company that I've had a relationship with for a number of years. I pointed out that many of their processes were either non-existent or broken. They had no controls or measurement in place and they came across as being unprofessional and not providing a good service to their clients. Yesterday I conducted my CCS. The CEO agreed and admitted she was very frustrated by not having the ability to get it under control. The meeting ended with her asking for help. She recognised that she needed outside help but was afraid to engage with a consultant or coach as she didn't know anybody and was concerned about spending a chunk of money and not getting what's needed. So I've signed her up for €3,100 for the first month, €1,550 for the second & third month, and €1,250 per month thereafter. Plus as there is a significant amount of desk work in writing procedures she has agreed to pay €500 or $700 per day for this service. I've sub-contracted this to a consultant. Another one in the bag!

3 New Business Coaching Clients So Far In The New Year!

I got my first new client in the New Year! We met at an Entrepreneur’s and Inventors Network group. She is a successful chiropractor with two offices and five staff members who wants to solidify the systems in her business to create more time to pursue outside interests including speaking and writing. Our phone meeting led to a CCS meeting which went great. She has a life coach and admits that her life coach is helpful to her personally, but isn’t helping her business. Interestingly, as I presented the Coaching Agreement to her during the CCS, she said she “wants to go faster, not slower.” Because of her need to phase out the cost of her life coaching engagement, we agreed on pricing of $1,500 for the Strategic Planning process, $1,500 per month for January and February, then a full coaching program of $2,250 per month starting on March 1!

Another client! I’m a member of my local Chamber of Commerce’s “E-Team,” which offers free counseling to local business people who want to start businesses.  In February of 2008, an architect presented his new business plan to all of us on the E-Team and we stayed in contact.  (I called every month to ask how he was doing!) After a successful and fast start to his business, his pipeline stagnated, and he started to realize he could use some help with marketing and sales. We had a face-to-face meeting and a CCS with his wife. The key to this meeting was my insistence that they talk to me about what they wanted their lives to look like in ten years, not just their business. The wife, who works an outside job she’s not happy with, became emotional as she described being able to spend more time with their 5 year old daughter as she grows up, and having the business allow her to work with her husband rather than in an outside job. Although they wanted to go forward, they hesitated because of the investment, even though his numbers in the Profit Equation showed him creating $220,000 of additional net income in two years with my coaching help! After Christmas, he had a chance meeting with another client of mine who told him that he just had to work with me if he wanted to achieve his goals. On January 6, we set a date for the Strategic Plan and the next day signed an agreement for $1,250 per month with a $500 fee for Strategic Planning process!

My latest new client has an HVAC business doing $1.8 million in sales. He’s owned the business himself since 1984 and has been in my BNI chapter for over a year, which is how we met.  We had a CCS meeting in November, but he was reluctant to invest in coaching because he has been burned by consultants and brokers in recent years.  His primary objective is to sell the business and he wants to enjoy the rest of his life without the stress of business ownership.  A couple of weeks ago (after continuing to hear my message every week at BNI) he asked me if we could talk again. The wife, who is the accountant of the business turned out to be very helpful.  Although we focused 90% on how a Comprehensive Exit Strategy could help them, when we talked about looking for increased value the wife was the one who said "we could probably trim a little more cost" and "our sales guy isn't exactly a ball of fire".  I felt as though the turning point came when they expressed concern about how I could help them where the other consultants they engaged had failed.  So I explained that as a coach, theirinvolvement was going to be the difference, but that I also had a system and a plan for how we would implement the strategy. I simply opened up my Comprehensive Exit Strategy "How To" slide, read the strategy point-by-point, putting particular emphasis on maximizing the value of the business. They were very impressed that I already had a plan and a system that made sense to them.  So when I got to the Profit Equation, they stopped me and said "We get it, what do your program and fees look like?" The result was a signed coaching agreement!

2 Business Coaching Clients Signed For $1,750 Per Month

I got the lead from my warm market of referrals. They make medicated skin care products and environmental disinfectants and do about 3 million in sales per year. I contacted the owners a couple of months ago, they were excited and knew they needed some help in growing their business. They cancelled 3 meetings over a 2 month period and I considered giving up on them. On our coaching call, you told me to practice patience (for me being a high D that’s tough). Client Signed At $1,250 Per Month By Business Coach

I hosted my first seminar on February 4th and personally invited business owners who had not yet agreed to a Complimentary Coaching Session.  We went through the “5 Steps to Freedom” presentation using the “Stunning Seminars” method which went great.  I booked four Complimentary Coaching Sessions at the conclusion of the seminar and two more after the event.

One of the seminar attendees agreed to have a "strategic partnership" meeting with me, but as the meeting proceeded the feeling totally changed and it became a CCS. The owner said that he has been thinking about coaching every day since the seminar! I reinforced how much untapped potential I see in the business and how together we will have the opportunity to make it even more successful. It’s a family owned printing and graphics shop with revenues around $500k per year. They saw the need for coaching as they have no clear Tactical Marketing Plan, USP and Guarantee, or Strategic Plan. I signed them up for coaching and left with a check for $1,250 per month. We agreed that this introductory rate will be for six months after which time we will review their program and move them up to $1,750 a month out of their additional net profits.  The owner told me the next day that he felt like the first 3 chapters were written just for him.  I am very excited to work with this client as he is ready and eager to learn!

Business Coaching Client Upgraded To $2,750 Per Month!

In the month of July I landed my first business coaching client, a pizzeria owner with a total of 17 stores. I met with the business owner face to face and in the second meeting, the “Complementary Coaching Session,” I walked away with an agreement for $2,000 per month. So far, I’ve received $6,000 in coaching fees from this client.

During one of our calls, Eric coached me on how to correct the fact that I had begun to do too much “consulting” (doing the work for the client) and I wasn’t charging enough for what I’m doing. So I went back to my client and he agreed to invest in a higher value coaching program. He realizes that the current economic climate requires him to be more aggressive. Next month I will begin billing this client at $2,750 per month for 1 hour per week of coaching. First Business Coaching Client Signed In Just 6 Weeks!

I have been working the system for 6 weeks under the guidance of Eric Dombach. The coaching calls are necessary for accountability, business process questions, real teaching moments and creating doable plans and course corrections to continue marketing my new business. First 2 Business Coaching Clients Signed, Including a CPA Firm

I just got the check! It’s a total of $2,625, which is $1,750 for the first month of coaching plus $875 for the Strategic Planning processI met this principal of a local CPA firm at my BNI meeting on very next day after you taught us the approach of partnering with CPA firms and splitting the coaching fees with clients they bring to us. At the first meeting I positioned us to work together as strategic partners (joint coaching, seminars, referral sharing) though I also wanted a coaching engagement. I went through the Sales Binder thoroughly and she then wanted to set up a meeting with her senior partner who will be transitioning the firm to my client over the next few years. The senior partner was skeptical at first about the amount of money, but by the end of the meeting he was engaged. The thing that really pulled him in was the fact that I could be a resource to them to help their clients when they get questions outside their area of expertise, which they do a lot since CPA's tend to be the most trusted advisor for most business owner.

I also picked up a commercial printer client this morning at $1,750 per month with the Strategic Planning process spread out over the first 3 months. I walked away with the check for $2,350. I've been working on this for a couple of months. I did the original CCS in mid November with the president of the company and I stayed in touch with him monthly. Finally, I was able to get one of the brothers to meet with me and review the program and then I had to repeat the process with the 2nd brother to review the program. Finally, after getting all 3 brothers onboard, I gave them homework to get the process underway! We’ll be focusing on the USP & Guarantee, Sales Management System, Tactical Marketing Plan, and the Break-even Plan. Next time, I think I’ll insist that all the partners be in the room for the first CCS!

It’s a security guard brokerage firm and they’ve signed on for $2,250 per month as well as $2,250 for the Strategic Plan. I also signed up my second client for $1,750 a month.
